Americans won't fall for bait and switch!
Tell your Senator to oppose the Hagel-Martinez amnesty bill Last night President Bush claimed, "…to secure our border, we must create a temporary worker program." He also announced he will authorize putting "up to 6,000" National Guard troops on the border, temporarily. President Bush made it clear these troops would have no military role or function, therefore appeasing Mexico's President Vicente Fox. This is the latest attempt to convince the American people to pass the Senate's Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act (S. 2611), co-sponsored by Senators Chuck Hagel (R-NE) and Mel Martinez (R-FL), which provides amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Not only does this bill provide amnesty to an estimated 12 million illegal aliens, but also allows 103 million new legal immigrants over the next 20 years, which is one-third of our entire current US population, according to a recent Heritage Foundation study.
Americans will not be satisfied with this "bait and switch." We were promised enforcement in the 1986 amnesty and as mentioned in Phyllis Schlafly's latest column, "If we couldn't trust President Reagan to see that the law was faithfully executed, we surely are not going to trust Bush's promises." The Senate should reject any form of guest-worker/amnesty as well as massive increases in legal immigration numbers.
