| UPDATE: The Senate passed the Inhofe Amendment by a vote of 62-35 (Roll Call vote 131), thereby adopting English as our official language. However, the Senate also passed a watered down substitute amendment offered by Sen. Ken Salazar 58-39 (Roll Call Vote 132). This amendment only states that English is our “common and unifying language.” The two versions will be debated during a conference committee on the larger immigration bill. Eagle Forum supports the Inhofe Amendment. | |||
