Foreign Language Ballots Revived
Tell Your Representative to reject Foreign Language Ballots
Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) offered an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, State, Science appropriations bill which would have prohibited funding for foreign language ballots. Although the amendment failed (Y-167, N-254, NV-11), it was defeated by Democratic votes (192) with the majority of Republicans (164) voting for it. House Leadership is trying again to bring the VRA to the floor with foreign language ballots included! The Rules committee appears to be prohibiting amendments, including Representative King's amendment to eliminate foreign language ballots. In light of the Senate recently passing a bill granting amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens and importing up to 66 million new legal immigrants, America needs linguistic unity more than ever. Offering foreign language ballots while at the same time emphasizing the importance of learning English sends mixed signals to those seeking to assimilate into American society. The initial vote was delayed because of your calls we need to do it again! Your Representative, the House Republican leadership and the Rules Committee need to hear from you! Let them know that you still reject foreign language ballots.
