WATCH OUT FOR A SURPRISE SENATE VOTE ON EMBRYOS!
Tell your Senators to vote AGAINST increasing
Rumor has it that the House of Representatives may not have the necessary votes needed to pass the Iraq emergency supplemental spending bill, thus, a Senate vote on expanding federal funding for destructive embryonic stem cell research may come sooner than originally anticipated! This new Democratic Congress is adamant on getting such legislation passed because they failed to override President Bush's veto of a similar bill, H.R. 810, during the 109th Congress.
Sponsored by Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), S. 5, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2007, would overturn President Bush's current policy and allow increased taxpayer dollars to fund the killing of human embryos. S. 5 is the Senate equivalent of the embryonic stem cell research bill passed by the House in January (H.R. 3). Stem cell research offers great promise; yet embryonic stem cell research has been exalted to a status of superiority that it just does not deserve. Adult stem cell research has been used in human applications for over 70 diseases. No therapies have been derived from embryonic stem cells-not one!
Taxpayers are already paying for research that many Americans find to be morally wrong. We need your help in stopping this dangerous piece of legislation that will further promote using embryos at the expense of human life! Call your Senators today!
