Strike Out the Amnesty!
Vote YES on the Cornyn, Grassley, Inhofe, and Vitter Amendments!
Thank you for all your calls on the Kennedy-Kyl Amnesty bill! You are making a difference! Senators are now considering various amendments and we wanted to give you an update on where things stand.
Amendments Already Voted On:
- Dorgan Amendment eliminate the guest worker program.
Failed 31-64 (Roll Call 174)
- Bingaman Amendment limit guest workers to 200,000 annually.
Passed 74-24 (Roll Call 175)
- Coleman Amendment allow law enforcement officers and government officials to inquire as to the legal status of individuals they serve.
Failed 48-49 (Roll Call 177)
- Update on Pending Amendments:
- Cornyn Amendment deny any chance at legal status to gang members, terrorists, sex offenders, and alien absconders (those already under deportation orders).

We are hearing that some Senators want to water-down the Inhofe Official English Amendment. Outrageous! Over 85% of Americans want English declared as our official language (Rasmussen Poll, June 2006).

The Senate will likely vote on the Cornyn, Vitter, and Grassley amendments today. Call and urge a YES vote on each of these amendments. Also, call Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and ask them to have a vote on the Inhofe English amendment before the recess!
