Urgent Memorandum: Nominee to Fill O'Connor Seat on Supreme Court  TO: All Constitutionalists FROM: Virginia Armstrong, Ph.D., Nat’l. Chrm., Eagle Forum’s Court Watch; Pres., Blackstone Institute Friends and Colleagues, We anticipate that within the coming week President Bush will nominate a successor to Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. I urge in the strongest possible way that we send this message to President Bush: You led us to believe that you would appoint justices like Scalia and Thomas. Anything less would be a betrayal of those who voted for you. A Supreme Court candidate whom we will support must have a paper trail that demonstrates a strong commitment to the constitutionalist approach to the Constitution. A candidate who skillfully answers questions without telling us anything meaningful, will not be acceptable. I ask that we mobilize all our resources to forcefully urge that President Bush appoint, and Senators confirm, only candidates in the mold of Scalia and Thomas. This is a battle we cannot afford to lose because it will determine the future of America. May God bless and energize our efforts in this battle.
