Eagle Forum Helps Hurricane Katrina Relief
Up to a million people who fled New Orleans, southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi in the wake of Hurricane Katrina will not be able to return to their flooded homes for many months. Since few can afford to live in a hotel indefinitely, hundreds of thousands of evacuees are in desperate need of emergency temporary housing.

A new volunteer charity called Operation Share Your Home has just been organized with the mission of matching those who need emergency shelter with those who are willing to provide temporary shelter. Operation Share Your Home has undertaken the enormous task of matching (and screening!) those who need shelter and those offering it.

Louisiana Eagle Forum President Sandy McDade has been providing phone bank services to Operation Share Your Home. Sandy's toll-free number (1-888-827-2525) has been shown regularly on CNN, Fox News and other media, with the result that thousands of phone calls are "flooding" Sandy's office daily. At any given time, 100 to 200 callers are waiting on "hold" while Sandy's staff collects information about those needing or offering temporary housing.

ABOUT SANDY McDADE:
Sandy McDade Sandy McDade has been Louisiana State President of Eagle Forum for 20 years, working to promote conservative, pro-family policies in the Pelican State. For 10 years she has owned and operated one of the nation's premier phone banking operations, based in Shreveport, which provides voter ID and Get Out The Vote services to elect conservative candidates. Sandy's sons who live in Baton Rouge have spent time working with their church and the Red Cross to provide shelter for the hundreds of thousands of evacuees who have overwhelmed Louisiana's capital city.

YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED to defray the cost of operating the phone bank for Katrina relief. Send your contribution for Katrina relief to Friends 4 Teens Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization (Federal ID 73-1683960). Donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your gift will be used to provide the toll-free telephone lines and staff helping to arrange temporary shelter for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. (If you are able to offer shelter, please contact Operation Share Your Home to fill out an application.)
