EAGLE FORUM PAC ENDORSES MARCO RUBIO. Pat and Mark Andrews hosted a magnificent dinner for 100 people at their home in Sanibel, FL on Nov. 15. The event was a fundraiser for Marco Rubio, a candidate for the U.S. Senate in the Florida Primary, where he faces tough opposition from the Establishment candidate, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Rubio's parents came to America from Cuba in 1959, and Marco was born in Miami. Rubio made many new friends with his speech, which was preceded by a speech by Eagle President Phyllis Schlafly. All 100 guests were seated at tables on the veranda overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, a spectacular sight, as were also the flowers and arrangements inside the house.
KATHLEEN SULLIVAN SPONSORS EAGLE FORUM PAC EVENT. On Nov. 14, about 100 people attended a 5-to-7 o'clock reception at Pagelli's Cucina in Coconut Point Mall, Estero, FL, which featured a speech by Eagle President Phyllis Schlafly on "The Coming Conservative Victory in 2010." Kathleen Sullivan was responsible for arranging the successful event to support Eagle Forum PAC.
EAGLE FORUM SPONSORS RADIO ADS IN TWO KEY STATES TO DEFEAT OBAMACARE. Eagle Forum wrote and produced 2 ads urging citizens to let Senators Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) know that a "Yes" vote on the cloture motion to proceed could mean the end of their political careers. Sen. Nelson and Sen. Lincoln are key votes to defeat the cloture motion to proceed to consideration of the health care bill. Both are running for reelection in 2010. Under Senate rules, 60 votes are needed on a "cloture" motion to move a bill forward. Right now, Democrats have 60 votes and Republicans have 40 votes. The ads are running everywhere in these two states on 26 stations in Nebraska and on 22 stations in Arkansas.
After our radio ad ran in Nebraska for a full two days this week, Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE), one of the "moderate" Democrats being heavily pressured to oppose Senator Harry Reid's health care bill, released this statement claiming that a YES vote on the cloture motion to proceed to debate does not amount to a vote in favor of the overall bill. Of course, his statement may sound reasonable at first, but when you look at the Senate's voting patterns over the past decade, Sen. Nelson's argument does not hold water.
After learning about an extensive study conducted by the Congressional Research Service (mentioned in our action alert yesterday) which found that since 1999 the Senate has approved and passed 97.6% of all bills when lawmakers voted in favor of the motion to proceed to debate, we decided to respond to Senator Nelson with the following radio ad, which will run all across the state of Nebraska today:
Sen. Ben Nelson's DoubleTalk.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2010: VIRGINIA'S 5TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT. The Danville TEA Party plans a "Fired Up For Freedom" rally Nov. 21 to oppose Rep. Tom Perriello's support for ObamaCare. "We were outraged to find that Tom Perriello had voted in favor of this bill. I was with dozens of 5th District voters in his office two days before the vote and we pleaded with him to stand with us against the Pelosi plan," said Danville TEA Party chairman Coleman. Rep. Perriello defeated our friend Virgil Goode by just 727 votes, in a district where newly elected Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell won big. godanriver.com, 11-13-09.

EAGLE OF THE WEEK For many years, Pat Andrews has been one of the most faithful supporters of good conservative candidates. She and her husband Mark have been generous donors, and they have played an important role in giving candidates good strategies for victory. A member of the board of directors of Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund, Pat is also Eagle Forum's National Chairman of the gambling issue, where she has been indispensable in the battle against gambling in many states.
