KANSAS EAGLE FORUM SPONSORS SUCCESSFUL EVENT. Kansas Eagle Forum headed by Eagle State President Char Bredemeier, in cooperation with Kansas Judicial Review, gathered a crowd of more than 500 on April 24 at the Blue Valley Baptist Church in Overland Park, Kansas. The evening featured a speech by Eagle President Phyllis Schlafly on "What's the Problem With Judges?" Kansas has a referendum coming up on the ballot in November to allow the voters of Johnson County, Kansas to elect their district judges instead of having them effectively chosen by the liberal bar association. Phyllis presented an Eagle Award to Tim Golba who headed the grassroots effort to gather 14,000 signatures (twice the number required) to place this proposition on the ballot. The voters in Johnson County, Kansas have a unique opportunity to send a message to supremacist judges. For further information: http://www.kansasjudicialreviewofjoco.org

110TH CONGRESS PASSES PRO-LIFE LEGISLATION. The Senate passed H.R. 493, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), which was sponsored by Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME). The bill aims to protect families from being discriminated against by health insurance companies and by employers on the basis of genetic information. This is an important pro-life victory because both Houses of Congress passed this bill with language that extends this protection to the unborn. Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) sponsored the amendment to the House version, which was retained in the Senate version, and it simply ensures that "any fetus carried by such pregnant woman," "any embryo held by the individual or family member," and also children placed for adoption will be protected under this law. The Senate bill passed by a vote of 95-0. President Bush is expected to sign this legislation into law.

VICTORY: SUPREME COURT RULES 6 TO 3 IN FAVOR OF VOTER PHOTO ID LAW. The Supreme Court upheld Indiana's voter identification law that requires Indiana voters to show a picture ID before voting. Justice Stevens found no "concrete evidence of the burden imposed on voters who now lack photo identification," and confirmed that the "risk of voter fraud" is "real"; thus, there is "no question about the legitimacy or importance of the state's interest in counting only the votes of eligible voters." ALASKA GOV. SARAH PALIN GIVES BIRTH TO A SON WITH DOWN SYNDROME. While up to 80% of Down syndrome pregnancies end by abortion, Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband did not allow prenatal testing to devalue their son's life. 'We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed," said Gov. Palin. Alaska Eagle Forum President Debbie Joslin says, "I can't help but remember Governor Palin's campaign slogan 'Take a Stand.'" LifeNews.com, 4-22-08.

TENNESSEE EAGLE FORUM FIGHTING FOR LIFE.: Tennessee Eagle Forum and Family Action of Tennessee have started an impressive abortion awareness campaign to stir Tennesseans to amend their state constitution to be neutral on abortion. Tennessee is one of sixteen states where the courts have found a so-called "right to abortion" in the state consitution. Tennessee Eagle President Bobbie Patray traveled with former state Senator Fowler over 1400 miles to promote SJR 127 at press conferences around the state. This has resulted in thousands of emails to state legislators. Visit www.LifePetition.org to learn how six members of a subcommittee voted to prevent six million Tennesseans from voting on the language in SJR 127. SJR 127 states: "Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a right to abortion or requires the funding of an abortion. The people retain the right through their elected state representatives and state senators to enact, amend, or repeal statues regarding abortion, including circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest or when necessary to save the life of the mother." We approved of the views that you held,
But you see, Dr. Stein,
You have now crossed the line
