Emergency Alert: AZ protect Right to Keep & Bear Arms!

April 15, 2014

Please forward to everyone you know!

ALERT:

This is our last chance to STOP an Article V Constitutional Convention in Arizona

The vote could take place at any time from today forward. Your contacts are extremely important. When Senators get just 10 calls they think that everybody is against it.

MESSAGE: Vote NO on SCR 1016. SCR 1016 calls for an Article V Constitutional Convention of the States for proposing multiple amendments. A convention cannot be limited. Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens in his new book “Six Amendments” wants to amend the U.S. Constitution and gut the Second Amendment taking away the individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms. An Article V Convention of the States puts our Constitutional Rights at risk because radicals and special interest groups will have their own agenda at a Convention. Please vote NO.

CONTACT: Senate President Andy Biggs and THANK him for standing strong against any Article V Constitutional Convention bills. abiggs@azleg.gov 602-926-4371

Links on Justice John Paul Stevens:

There are nine pages of radical groups listed on www.movetoamend.com that support an Article V Constitutional Convention of the States and have their agendas ready. Move to Amend wants to take away our free speech and only allow the government to fund candidates.

A Convention cannot be Limited: Former Chief Justice Warren Burger stated: “I have also repeatedly given my opinion that there is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention. The Convention could make its own rules and set its own agenda. Congress might try to limit the Convention to one amendment or to one issue, but there is no way to assure that the Convention would obey. After a Convention is convened, it will be too late to stop the convention if we don’t like its agenda…”

Article V of the U.S. Constitution states:  “The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress…” Notice that Congress Calls the Convention and will set the rules…not the States.

Question: Why do we think that the Congress that ignores the Constitution now would be any more likely to abide by a new amendment to the Constitution?
