During the December 16 program, Congressman Tom Tancredo from the 6th district of Colorado joined Phyllis to talk about his book called In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America’s Border and Security.
The Congressman is concerned that the millions of illegal immigrants that come into this country have “stated quite clearly” that they don’t want to be Americans. Combined with liberals’ love for multicul-turalism, our country does not encourage these people to assimilate. To these immigrants’ detriment, their children are not following the traditional pattern of moving up economically, so we are in a sense, “creating a slave class” of these new immigrants and future generations.
Tancredo insists that many ideas that are floating around about these illegal immigrants are untrue, such as that they take jobs that Americans do not want to have. Swift meat packing plants across the country have been subjected to raids but soon found themselves inundated with applications from Americans and legal immigrants who wanted to replace the illegal immigrants that were caught.
Rather than use political means, those who want to create an American union pass trade agreements. These agreements “diminish the sovereignty of the United States” and would make North and Central America “just like Europe”. Companies from Mexico and Canada could open businesses here and bring their own employees without restriction, even if they would exceed our country’s cap on immigration.
