From Crayons to Condoms

Phyllis welcomed Steve Baldwin, the Executive Director of the Council for National Policy, to the October 25 program to talk about his new book called From Crayons to Condoms: The Ugly Truth About Public Schools. This book is a collection of anecdotes from parents and teachers who are upset about their schools.

Phyllis and the guest lamented the poor quality of math and reading education in this country. Children are not establishing important brain patterns and are now mostly low scorers on international tests, behind countries such as Brazil. Many tech companies are not hiring recent American college graduates because they feel these students do not have the adequate skills to do those jobs.

Instead of important math and reading skills, many educators want students to see homosexual relationships as equal to heterosexual marriage, and expose young children to sex education. The guest explained that since schools have decided to have early sex education, STD infections and teenage pregnancy rates have skyrocketed.

Baldwin especially lamented the problems in urban areas: "I think the public schools have done a disservice to minority children more than anything...we set them up for failure...it's a racist mental-ity...that they automatically assume that if you’re a minority, you must be stupid."

To purchase a copy of From Crayons to Condoms: The Ugly Truth About Public Schools, you can call Eagle Forum at 1-800-736-3202 to see if we have any more copies of the book at only $20 each. Otherwise, you can purchase the book at your local bookstore at regular price. Podcast Phyllis Schlafly Live! Just go to www.eagleforum.org.
