Global Population Decline
On March 21, Phyllis talked with Don Feder about the potential hazards of a continuing
population decline. Don Feder is a former columnist with The Boston Herald who is now a freelance writer
who has written over 200 articles on many important profamily issues.
Mr. Feder explained: "one thing all of the population alarmists have in common is that they were all wrong." The
world pop-ulation has grown by as many as six times, yet the planet has not changed much. Whenever resources become
scarcer, someone will usually come up with a way to multiply those resources.
Phyllis asked why the population has gone down so much. The main reason is abortion: there are 42 million worldwide per year. Also, over 1/2 of the world's population is using some form of birth control. The guest pointed out
that the culture (especially movies and academia) is very anti-reproduction, which affects how the average person
thinks about having more than one or two children.
Phyllis also asked about the highest birthrates. The guest explained that Muslims and developing countries tend
to have the highest number of children.
Mr. Feder explained there is an important documentary out about this issue called Demographic Winter: the decline
of the human family. If you watch this movie, you will be the most informed on this issue, and the guest hopes you will also show it to your friends and family.
