Desire and Deceit
Dr. R. Albert Mohler, President of Southwestern Seminary talked about his book called Desire and Deceit: The Real Cost of the New Sexual
Tolerance on the April 11 program with Phyllis. Dr. Mohler has been recognized by both Christian and secular magazines
as an influential leader in the Christian community.
When asked why he wrote the book, Dr. Mohler said that many people are confused about human sexuality, "and it's affecting
their lives." He wrote the book to further inform church leaders, parents, and any other Christian who wants to learn more about what important
Christian thinkers have to say about some tough topics.
Dr. Mohler said there are few fathers who talk with their children about sexuality, and though fathers may or may not be confident about speaking
about these topics with their children, their very presence in the home is highly correlated with children who make wise decisions regarding criminal
and sexual activity.
Dr. Mohler explained another misconception: "Even many Christians today would think of marriage and the family
as something that human beings developed, when the Bible tells us that it is our creator, who knew our need, who
gave us these gifts."
Dr. Mohler's book covers many different areas of sexuality, including pornography, Alfred Kinsey, homosexuality,
and abortion.
