Evolution: The Grand Experiment
Phyllis talked with Dr. Carl Werner about his book series called Evolution: The Grand Experiment on the February program. Dr. Werner received his undergraduate degree in biology with distinction from the University of Missouri and his Doctor of Medicine degree at the age of 23.
Dr. Werner said he first became interested in the subject as a believer of evolution when his friend in medical school dared him to try to prove this theory. He has been looking into the subject ever since, and has found many holes in the theory of evolution.
Dr. Werner said that it is very difficult for living things to form from nothing because they are made of DNA, which is made of proteins, but proteins are incapable of forming spontaneously. Charles Darwin proposed his theory over 100 years ago, and we have made a lot of discoveries about DNA and basic biology since then.
Though it is in a textbook form, Dr. Werner said his work is geared for the basic reader, as well as homeschoolers. He also hopes it will be used in public schools one day, because he intentionally left any mention of God out of the book and also demonstrates widely accepted scientific principles.
The author also talked about acquired characteristics and how they are not passed down from parent to child. For example, if a man works out a lot and tans, he will become muscular and have darker skin. However, his son will not inherit the muscles or sun tan.
Phyllis and the guest also discussed the examples of fraud in the scientific field, such as forged fossil records. Unfortunately some of that is brought on by the evolutionary "survival of the fittest" mentality.
