How the Left-Wing Money
Machine Shapes American Politics

The greatest American political myth ever is that the Democrat Party is the voice of working families and the poor. On the February 9th edition of Eagle Forum Live, Phyllis' guest David Horowitz explained how Obama and the Democrats actually represent the richest political machine in history. Horowitz's book is called The New Leviathan: How the Left-Wing Money Machine Shapes American Politics & Threatens America's Future.

The "new leviathan" is a network of leftwing tax-exempt foundations that work tirelessly to promote liberal causes, along with government unions and universities. Though conservatives also have foundations, the wealth of leftwing foundations is ten times greater than that of conservative foundations. (Those figures don't include the massive dollars government unions and universities spend promoting liberal causes.) The sad irony is that the wealthiest and most formidable of the leftwing foundations were founded as conservative organizations, but later taken over by leftist boards or administrators, typically after their founder's death.

Horowitz explained that many of the Democrat Party's policy initiatives come out of these foundations. For example, President Obama was able to come up with his ObamaCare bill so quickly because most of it had been formulated by leftist foundations long before he came into office. Other causes liberal foundations push include undermining U.S. sovereignty and national security, amnesty for illegals, cap and trade, and other radical environmental policies.
