Phyllis Schlafly, President of Eagle Forum, issued this statement in response to Senator Arlen Specter's remarks at the confirmation hearing for Judge John Roberts: (9-12-05)
| It's hard to understand why Senator Specter would take a facetious comment by me out of context and try to make it appear that John Roberts was anti-woman. I hope the new rule for judges will not be to hold them to all the lawyer jokes they made when they were bachelors. Roberts' comment of decades ago simply indicated that he didn't think the government should be in the business of deciding what careers women choose, and I agree with that. |
Eagle Forum and Focus on the Family Present: Two interviews about Judicial Tyranny with Phyllis Schlafly and Dr. James Dobson (originally broadcast Oct. 21 & 22, 2004) |
Phyllis Schlafly discusses the growing problem of judicial tyranny. Left unchecked, the courts may decide whether the Pledge of Allegiance will continue to mention God, whether the Ten Commandments can be displayed in public buildings, and whether marriage will be defined as a union between one man and one woman. Unelected judges will essentially redefine our society against the will of the people unless the people rise up and stop them. Learn what you can do to keep judges from legislating from the bench.
